Getting JWS installed
843802Jul 2 2003 — edited Jul 4 2003What is necessary to get JWS installed on a customer's machine (as well as the JRE)? It needs to be "auto-magic" for my customer base.
I have JWS and my application working just fine on my local machines but now looking how to make it VERY SIMPLE for my customers. When I read the Developer's guide, there is a bunch of code to detect and install JWS with some limitations on browser types. Do I need this?
My application requires JRE 1.4 so the model I am leaning toward was to provide a link to the GetJava page and have the customer install the JRE which installs JWS and then clink on the link on my web site to get my JARs installed.
For the current version of my application, I am delivering it using a commerical installer that also included the JRE and would install it if necessary; but I am seriously replacing it with JWS.
I do not have large test bed to ensure that the model will work.
Thanks in advance,
Roy
