Getting configure err "could not determine the size of off_t" on solaris 8

Hi All ,

I am trying to compile apache apr 0.9.17 version on soalris 8 . When i ran ./configure i am getting the following error
"configure: error: could not determine the size of off_t" .

CC version = CC: Sun C++ 5.8 Patch 121017-19 2009/03/12.

Can some one please assist me in resolving the error.
