Getting a Java Webstart App to work in Ubuntu

Hi,

I've recently installed ubuntu and I have windows 7. Simply speaking, I'm party of a chat service where I need to service it for a couple of hours. Thing is, I want to use it for ubuntu as well because I eventually plan on getting rid of the windows operating system. The problem I am facing is this. When I download the .jnlp app and start it up in windows, any version, it starts up fine, asks me for the login information, I type that in, and I log in fine with the program opening up fine.

However, on ubuntu there's a problem. The .jnlp downloads fine. It even opens up fine and asks me for the login information and it tells me it has connected to the server. However, it stays perpetually stuck on that screen and doesn't actually go to the chat program where I can manipulate options and things of that sort.

Do .jnlp applications work in the linux environment? Does it also work in the Mac environment? I would really like some help in this. I can post screenshots if necessary and even upload the .jnlp application if need be. The chat program by the way is from the company called nGenera. Thanks.

Ryan
