Get value of checkbox

Hi All,
I'm using apex 21.1.2. I've a checkbox group page item; i want to have the value of the checkbox when checked/unchecked using jQuery. I've used this.triggeringElement in javascript alert in a dynamic action; but it's not showing the value. Any help wil be highly appreciated.
