GET and POST

in this period i try to use servlet on my site, but i have a question, when i use the request's object to obtaing parameters passed to the servlet, how can i understand who is a GET parameter and who is a POST parameter?
if i get all the parameter of a page whit request.getParameterNames() i get both GET and POST parameters...
