German special characters

Hi all,

I'm creating a schema based XMLTYPE view with object types on relational tables. The data in these tables contain german special characters like �, �, �, � and so on. When querying this view through browser URI access I get an error message saying that there are invaild characters in this document. Is there a possibility to use an encoding scheme like ISO-8859-1 with this type of XMLTYPE view ?
