Generic Map Search in the Common Network Viewer

Vaibhav Chhatre-OracleFeb 19 2025 — edited Apr 2 2025

In the present state the Common Network Viewer (CNV) provides the ability to search using several “Search Types” such as Customer Address, Feeder Name and others.

However, the electric utility may need to search for an area on the map using commonly known names or identifiers, such as neighborhood / locality names or names of landmarks– similar to how Google Map search works.

The enhancement request is to provide an addition search option in the “Map Search” dialogue box which will allow the user to put in a generic map search location string in a text box.

On clicking the “Search” button, the map should navigate to the best matched location and show other similar matches in the “Search Results” table. This can be similar to the way presently implemented for “Customer Search” option.

For the other match results in the “Search Results” tables – the user should be able to navigate to the appropriate location by clicking on the search result.
