_gc._tcp.domain.xxx - How to set this up for VDA????

807578Nov 2 2009
Ok - When adding a User Directory, the VDA server is unable to locate the Windows
domain server because, I think, of the service or host that it's try to look up in DNS.

In snooping the network port, I see the following:

srss-demo -> 192.168.100.55 DNS C gc.tcp.gnorth.local. Internet Unknown (33) ?
192.168.100.55 -> srss-demo DNS R gc.tcp.gnorth.local. Internet Unknown (33)

On the VDA server command line, I am able to do an nslookup and get the
returned address, such:

srss-demo# nslookup gc.tcp.gnorth.local 192.168.100.55
Server: 192.168.100.55
Address: 192.168.100.55#53

Name: gc.tcp.gnorth.local
Address: 192.168.100.12

SO - I think that the DNS server is "almost" configured correctly.

However, the VDA "Connect User Directory" service is the last link, but it cannot get the right address as shown here:

srss-demo -> 192.168.100.55 DNS C gc.tcp.gnorth.local. Internet Unknown (33) ?
192.168.100.55 -> srss-demo DNS R gc.tcp.gnorth.local. Internet Unknown (33)

Any help would be appreciated. I can't believe that I'm the first to have this problem.

Thanks,
garrett
