Function index issue

Hi,

Server: IBM Blade Server
Database: Oracle9i
Size: 1TB

I have create a function index on a table, which index was running for more than 2 days. While the index was running we ran END Of Business (EOB) process, which normally updates most of the table in the development box. But the EOB didn't run at all. EOB ran only after killing the index process.

So does the issue lies in the index.... Why there was no operation able to perfrom on the table while building the index....

Can u please explain me what happened...?
