Fullback vs Incremental Backup

scottjhnJun 3 2014 — edited Jun 4 2014

Oracle 11g R2.

I can use two methodologies to do the backup.

1) Make the full back daily

2) Make the full backup on the Sunday of the week while make the incremental backups from Monday to Saturday

Ideally I would prefer the method 1, i.e., make full backup daily.  But at certain point, if the size of the database becomes larger and larger, the full backup may take a longer time to complete, then I may switch to method 2.

My question is, generally speaking, what should be the siwtch point in terms of  the size of the database?  If my question confuses you, let say it this way, by your experience,  how long does it take to backup 1 GB, 10 GB, and 100 GB of data to FRA disk, respectively?

Thanks

Scott
