Friday Topic - How can Java do to avoid losing ground to .Net?

mycoffeeMar 16 2012 — edited Mar 16 2012
I see the trend that more and more big corporates are switching (or leaning) to .Net
I am a java developer, and really love java but it seems the trend is against me. So why can .Net steal more and more java ground and will java vs. .Net becomes Linux vs. Windows?

I think it maybe... The reason is similar.
While MS builds Windows OS and only Windows OS. Thousands of engineers are on the same project. They make Windows better and better for end users. Thousands of other engineers in other side are making hundred versions of Linux, each of them is OK but none of them can compete with Windows

If someone goes to work in a .Net project, I know for sure he is going to use Visual Studio... He will run the IIS server ....

In java, what we can do? Many choices: eclipse, RAD, jDeveloper, MyEclipse, ... who knows all?
Then we have to decide what server we need to use? How many of them are out there? WebLogic, Websphere, Tomcat, JBoss, Geronimo ....

Someone is going to tell me: some good some bad about it... We have more choices...

Yes, we have more advantages, more choices .... but in the long run, how can java make tens of EDIs, tens of servers better than MS makes one? java is so fragmentary
If nothing is changed, I can see java will lose ground to .Net

Please educate me if i am wrong and sorry for ESL English.
