French Accent is Missing

Recently we upgraded our hardware. We are using Windows Server 2003 and Oracle 10g.

When I moved the data , I lost all my FRENCH ACCENT in my new server. Our database is mainly in English. Only one field has got some french accent. That is declared as Varchar 2.
(I move the data to dmp file and import in the New server)

I didn't have NLS_LANGUAGE specified in either in old server or in New Server.

Now Oracle does not take any french charecters. Do I miss any thing in moving the data?
