Forms and the new Windows Vista IE7 sandbox mode

Jacob MadsenDec 12 2006 — edited Nov 23 2007
Hi forum

I just stumbled on the following blog, which delves into a lot into running misc. versions of the JRE on Windows Vista.

http://weblogs.java.net/blog/chet/archive/2006/10/java_on_vista_y.html

However, one thing about this is critical to Forms, as I see it - the new IE7 sandbox mode, in which not even signed applets will be allowed to do anything outside the box. What I am specifically thinking of here, is, how the automatic install of the WebUtil components into the java "bin" folder will work?

We have tried running a Forms session on an RC1 of Vista, and the WebUtil components failed to install properly, most likely due to this sandbox mode. Has anyone else played around with this, and might have come up with an workaround to this issue, other than copying the necessary files to the client's java "bin" directory manually, or asking people to skip IE7 and use Firefox?

I know, that Vista won't be out to the general public until February, but as an ASP, we need to be prepared for these issues.

Thanks in advance,
Jacob
