FLEXlm License Manager won't work on SPARC Solaris 2.6

807559Apr 12 2001
Hi All,

I've just had to rebuild my SPARC Station after a fatal disk crash. I now find that the license manager for my C and C++ compilers won't work.

I installed the compilers then used the license install utility to install the codewords. I then edited /etc/opt/licenses/licenses_combined to remove the vendor string and to replace 'hostid=xxxxxx' with "0" as per an earlier instruction from Sun.

When I try to run the compiler I get the following error messages: -

License error: licensing Product C compiler
License file: /opt/SUNWspro/bin/../SC5.0/bin/../../license_dir/sunpro.lic,1
Invalid (Inconsistent) License key
The license key and data for the file do not match
FLEXlm error: -8,130

Previously to re-installing the software i had performed a recovery from backup tape. this produced the same error, which was when I decided to re-install from scratch (i.e. reload operating system and applications on to a newly formatted disk)

Any guidance on this would be very much appreciated as I am totally job-stopped at the moment and am under pressure to solve this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Jon Carter
