Firefox cannot run java applets on korean sites

I keep running into the problem that firefox will hang upon clicking certain java applets on popular Korean sites such as Naver and Daum. No error messages will appear and java console is the only thing that will respond.

OS: Windows XP 32bit SP2
Browser: Firefox 2.0.0.13
Java: 6.5
Plug-ins: DOM Inspector 1.8.1.13
East Asian languages installed.
