Finding appropriate Network Card

807557Jun 6 2007
I have checked for a network card on Solaris Hardware Compatibility(HCL) List against what my local computer shops supplies. When I say checked, I have looked at all of them, the recommended ones, certified ones etc... The computer shops just doesn't supply any of the network card listed on Solaris HCL.

What do I do now? Is it possible to have one of the network card from my local computer shop to run on solaris.

Here's my computer specification:

Intel P4 3.4Ghz
1G DDR Ram
MS or MSI Socket 775 Motherboard (Version 7091 1.0)

(Currrently I'm running a Ralink 2500 PCI Wireless Network Card just find on WinXP Pro, but Solaris doesn't accept it.)

Here is a list of what my local computer shop supplies:

What are suggestions and advice? I'm pretty sure that something from that list should work.

It's really dumb that WinXP which is not the most advanced OS on the planet (as Solaris 10 is), can support my old network card (Ralink 2500 PCI Wireless) and those that my local computer shop supplies, and Solaris 10 can't. Furthermore, WinXP Pro, which I am running costs me, and solaris 10 is free. So like I am paying to run a piece of hardware (my old network card) that is old and inferior. LOL Weird!
