find cause of high archive log generation during the night

mariog_absi-JavaNetMay 17 2016 — edited May 18 2016

Hello,

recently we are hitting a performance issue in one of our customer databases

during the night between 1 and 3am there is a huge amount of archive logs generated about 50-60 per hour but we the application developpers says they do not run anything that might cause this.. and I see no connections from users in the audit
how can I find what is causing the archive log generation? i do not see and scheduled jobs running at that time for any user
we need to know what is happening in the db to take measures such as increasing the disk or lowering the retention of the archivelogs by rman...

logmining using toad says unsupported.

is there a way I can determine exactly what is happening in the db between 1 and 3 am every morning

thanks in advance

Mario
