Hello,
Would it be possible to add a feature in SQLcl to allow using a secret's name with the connect command, rather than storing the actual credentials? When the --save-password option is used, the tool would save the secret's name. That way, secrets are referenced.
The idea is to store and reference the secret by name, so when credentials change, we only need to update the secret's value, and all existing entries remain valid.
In our case, we have a single user that connects to multiple databases, and this user’s password changes daily. I’ve automated the process using Python and KeePass, but it’s still cumbersome.
This feature would greatly simplify credential management for environments with frequent password rotations.
Thank you for considering this request.
Jean
