FastDateFormat vs SimpleDateFormat

Hi All,
what do you think about FastDateFormat (http://commons.apache.org/lang/api-release/org/apache/commons/lang/time/FastDateFormat.html) ?
It doesn't parse, but it can be used in formatting.
