FAL_SERVER and FAL_CLIENT - Please help me

Sir,

What is the difference between FAL_SERVER and FAL_CLIENT?
How we can configure this on Primary and Satndby databases? What
will be the changes happen to this parameters at the time of
Switchover and Failover?

Please help me.
