Facing sending Mail in French

Hi,
i was trying to send a mail using PL/SQL.I was able to send a mail successfully.but When i was trying to send a mail using French text it was turning to some unknown characters .

Ex: Merci pour l'intérêt que vous avez manifesté pour le SCRS (This is the original French text).
once the receiver receives the mail ity becomes like this :
Ex:Merci pour l'intérêt que vous avez manifesté pour le SCRS

Can anybody Help me.
