Extracting/Using Smart List's Names or Labels

700881May 12 2009 — edited May 12 2009
Hi,

Could anyone please help advise on this? I have created a smart list, consisting of some members of a dimension. I used this smart list as a drop-down within cells of an input form, so users can select which dimensional member that they want to store for a particular input cell. I realize that the numeric representations of those selected smart list items are stored within the Essbase cube. But those numeric representations mean nothing for my further uses. What I would like to do is, within a Business Rule, I would like to extract the actual values (e.g., Smart List item's names or labels) from that input cells and use those extracted names or labels, which are the name of dimensional members, to do further calculations, e.g., data allocations or data copy. I have tried several ways that I can think of, but somehow, I end up getting the numeric representation values rather than the actual (non-numeric) name or label values.

Are there ways to get the names or labels of smart list items using commands within a Business Rule?

Thanks in advance for all of your helps.
