Hi Oracle BI gurus -
Would you like get some feedback on my inquiry to integrate Oracle ODI and BIEE tools with IBM Information Governance Catalog tool (IBM InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog: Adding asset types, their assets, and their data flows into the catalog -…).
Due to the Basel III compliance, we would like to visualise data lineage and perform impact analysis on existing Oracle ETL jobs. We want to import the metadata of Oracle ODI jobs and BI reports into Infosphere. Yet as of now, With respect to Oracle ODI, though, I am not entirely sure if business (how, when, and by whom the data assets are used, and what policies, rules, and restrictions might apply to the use of the data assets) and operational metadata (information includes times and dates, counts of records processed and rejected, and statistics about processes, processors, and servers that are generated in the course of executing a job) can be extracted out of Oracle ODI
- Is there any ODI (API) metadata (in XML preferably) extract tool on Oracle ODI (11+) to extract operational and business metadata?
- If so what is it?
- How does it work? What kind of technology does it use? Can be invoke via command line.
- Is it documented and supported by Oracle?
- Is it useful? What do you think about its functionality?
- Does it follow any industry standards like OMG Common Warehouse Model? Or does the (export) output file is Oracle/Solution vendor proprietory? or XML file is too obfuscated?
For instance I found this great blog page [http://www.rittmanmead.com/2013/01/odi-11g-in-the-enterprise-part-4-build-automation-and-devops-using-the-odi-sdk-groovy-and-odi-tools/]. And OdiExportScen and OdiExportAllScen tools do something similar I think but I need some pointers before starting to scrutinizing.
I would really appreciate your mentorship.
