Extracting Data from HFM

JPR82Dec 17 2013 — edited Dec 18 2013

Hi all

I have been tasked with extracting data from our HFM application, so it can be loaded to a (third party) balance sheet reconciliation tool.

I have to extract the data for specific groupings of Balance Sheet accounts, e.g. Cash & Cash Equivalents, Deferred Tax Assets etc. These groupings do not exist as actual accounts in the COA.

I have tagged the accounts in HFM by adding the groupings to a UDA field and created a dynamic member list for each grouping, then I can use the Extract Data task to pull the balances. The other thing I have used is Extended Analytics to extract each grouping as a 'flat file with header' and saved them as templates. This works better as I can also group by customs and pull calculated data.

However, with both of these approaches I am still having to do a number of seperate, manual data extracts to extract each grouping and then manually aggregate the data.

Does anyone else have to do something like this? If so, can you describe your process? I am guessing people must be using FDM, Excel macros or some other custom SQL extract processes?

Thanks in advance

JR
