Extract "Number" from address

Looking to extract the "number" (for lack of a better word) portion of the address. The algorithm must be able to provide the following output:
1 John st = 1
1231 john st = 1231
Level 1, 12 john street = Level 1, 12
12a john st = 12a
unit 9, 12 john st = unit 9, 12
Toms Gun shop 12 john street = 12
Toms Gun shop level 12 9 John street = level 12 9
Toms Gun shop level 12, suite 9, 13 John st = level 12, suite 9, 13
