I've heard that allocating extra memory for the DB could be as bad as being short of memory, is that correct ? ** In my case, we have 80 GB RAM DDR4 on HP dl380 G9. I've just set the Target Memory to 40GB and also Max Memory to 40GB after it was 16 GB for Max Memory and 10 GB for Target Memory.
