expdp causes hanging

chuckersMay 4 2009 — edited May 4 2009
Our system is small enough that we can perform an expdp of the entire system on a nightly basis (our logical backup). Currently, we have this running against our development database nightly, also. About every 10 nights, while the LOGFILE from the expdp shows that there wasn't a problem, the account which initiated the process is shown as being blocked, usually by the SMON or CKPT processes. The wait event which shows up is:

enq: RO - fast object reuse

Then afterwards, for a good while, the SMON process is blocked by the CKPT process, and the SMON process is in the same wait state. The CPU spins at 99% during this process.

The same thing isn't happening in our test or production database. Could someone help me figure where to start looking for this problem?

Thanks
