exp table dump backup

Hi there

I am using Oracle 11.2.0.3 in AIX

Today I am taking exp ( not expdp) dump backup one of my production database table. I am surprised that segment size is 32.8 GB , dump backup size has reached upto 52 GB and backup still runing since 3 hrs.

Why dump size has been exceeding than it actual size? why it is taking long time?

Please give me your valuable suggestion.
