exp/expdp parallel

Hi,

DB : 10.1 and above

We taking schema level backup using exp / expdp ,imp / impdp.
we used parallel=4 in a script.

Is there any parameter which is help to finish the exp / expdp and imp /impdp withinn certain a period level?

While running exp/imp ,expdp/impdp,what is happening internally?
