executing oraInstRoot & root.sh

redologger-OCMar 9 2016 — edited Mar 9 2016

When installation is almost complete, you are prompted to run two scripts, orainstRoot.sh and root.sh, as root. This is shown in Figure A-3.

Hi guys,

as instructed by the OUI, one have to execute the 2 script purely as ROOT.

is it possible to sudo su - from oracle (software owner)  as Root and execute the 2 scripts.

What is the purpose OUI is asking to start a new terminal and login as ROOT.

Sorry i am quite new to this sudo thing.

But for cloning and installation of GI and rdbms home , database , is it advisable to login as a user and sesudo su - (to root, or oracle)

think it all depend on the /etc/sudoers file configuration?

i am more use to just login as the oracle account and the root account for the task. But bum into a environment which is more restricted so i am not too sure will i bum into any error because of sudo -ing here and there.
