Exadata X5-2 - Questions regarding backup storage and local filesystems

Fabricio_JorgeJul 17 2015 — edited Aug 6 2015

Hi all,

I have a few questions regarding where to save the backups of the database in Exadata and local filesystems, that i would like the help of the more experienced DMAs to help me solve:

      1) Is it recommended to save all the database backups in the diskgroups? If yes, the diskgroup to save the backupsets would be RECO?

      2) Can i create a mountpoint in just one of the database machines and save the backups there?

      3) Each Exadata X5-2 database machine has 8 drive bays. I know that drives 0 and 1 are used for storing SO and other sys files. what about the other 6 drive bays... do they come with disks inside or these drive bays are for future expansion?

      4) Can i use the local storage on each database server to create several mountpoints for a variety of uses? For example, on Database node 1, can i create a mountpoint to save some application logs?

Thanks in advance for the attention and pacience.
