Hello Experts,
We are evaluating to use hosted Exadata servers from a service provider. They told us they use the management network interface linked on their internal (say firewalled) network for the management of the box. Hence we are not allowed to access the box on that interface for any administrative purpose it can be required. For any administrative task we should address the request to them.
While I don't see immediate limitation because of that, am wondering what if in future a tool or a process requires management network access for administrative purpose and the kind of access is rather regular or automatic and not once in a while.
Isn't that approach limiting potentially the Exadata usage?
Wouldn't it be possible to configure a second network interface and use it from the service provider as their own management network interface?
Checking the Exa documentation here
https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E50790_01/doc/doc.121/e51950/network.htm
I've found this sentence
'Cabling or configuration changes to these interfaces on Exadata Storage Servers is not permitted'
It seems to me that what the service provider is doing, actually is a configuration change to that interface.
What's your view on that? Any input appreciated
Thank you
