Girish SharmaMay 29 2008 — edited May 30 2008
Hello,

Question: What exactly happens in every 3 second in oracle db (9i and Windows XP); if
a) There is no transaction running
b) There are some transactions are running
c) DB is in Archive Mode
d) DB is not in Archive Mode
e) Redo log buffer is one third full.
f) Redo log buffer is not one third full.
g) Redo log buffer contains 1 MB of buffered data.
h) Redo log buffer do not contains 1 MB of buffered data.

I mean which process(s) (LGWR, CKPT, DBWR, ARCH) will work and what will they do in every 3 second as per conditions mentiond above.

Please quote your view in detail so that concepts may be more clear. I have read documentation but concept is still not clear.

Thanks & Kind Regards
Girish Sharma
