Error with Oracle Reader

I am getting the following message when try to execute the oracle reader.
System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleCommand.ExecuteReader(Boolean requery, Boolean fillRequest, CommandBehavior behavior)
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleCommand.ExecuteReader()

Is this colliding with the Microsoft oracle client? Do you need to deinstall the Microsoft Oracle parts? Anyone have a solution for this? I am running XP PRO. Thanks for any ideas totally frustrating.
