Error ORA-24813: cannot send or receive an unsupported LOB.

I am getting the following error when i execute my query in which i use getclobval() xml_data.

ORA-24813: cannot send or receive an unsupported LOB.

my Database version is

Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
CORE 11.2.0.2.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production

and the pl/sql version is

PL/SQL Developer
Version 9.0.3.1641
01.71862 - 50 user license
Windows Vista 6.0 Build 6002 (Service Pack 2)
