Error occured during initialization of VM

Hi,

I am getting following error when i try to compile/run any java program:

Error occurred during initialization of VM
java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError

Its a linux machine and I have installed jdk1.4.
(I have verified that there are no problems running jdk1.4 on another linux machine)
