Error Message: Mount Failed
807559Mar 1 2001 — edited Mar 2 2001I am trying to install Solaris 8 on an Intel machine. After it detects my hardware it gives me an option to choose a default boot device. When I choose to boot from the CD-ROM, it comes back with an error message.
Error: Mount Failed
-Unable to mount a Solaris root file system from the device:
CD : (*) Target 0, Toshiba CD-ROM XM-5702B 3046
on Bus Mastering IDE controller in PCI Slot 133, Func 1
Error message from mount:
/pci@0,0/pci-ide@7,1/ide@1/sd@0,0:a: can't open - no hsfs VTOC
I have checked the Solaris 8 (Intel Platform Edition) Hardware Compatibility List and everything seems to be fine. I haven't been able to find anything relating to this problem in the forum threads and I have run out of ideas. Any help will be greatly appriciated. Thanks
