Error MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA

Hi! I'm had installed sendmail in my system (Solaris 8 BTW) and when i run the sendmail app I always recieved the following error "[some ip] did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA" can someone give me a hint on what might be the problem here.
