Hi guys,
I was looking for reference architectures for Hyperion Planning 11.2.11 which details optimum hardware recommendations.
I've been working with hyperion since 9.3 to 11.1.2.4 and server architecture always revolved around 3 or 4 servers:
1- Applicational Server - where all the web tier services were installed.
2-Essbase Server - where essbase was installed
3- Database Server - that served as the metadata repository for Hyperion Planning, and repository for stage data in the context of the projects to ETL data back and fourth between sources and destinations
4 - I've also seen versions where a second applicational server was used for Financial Reporting Studio and as a Load Balancer. I'm not sure if this is a good idea vs a single applicational server, let me hear from you what number of users would this would advisable.
If ODI was being used as standalone ETL tool it would normally go close to data in the Database Server(3), or if used by FDMEE sometimes in the applicational server (1)
Let me hear your thoughs of how this developed over the years until now.
However I've not seen much blog posts and discussions of hardward and how physical vs virtual servers, cpu clocks, ram speed and amount and the new NVMe SSD disks benefit the Oracle Planning systems. If you have any saved bookmarks on this topics please let me know.
Cheers
