Currently, WACS Service Areas are mapped to OFS Buckets, which has led to confusion among multiple clients.
According to WACS, service areas define a logical boundary of an organization's service territory. A service area can be specified on a metered service point to indicate the service area in which the metered service point is located.
Similarly, in OFS, work zones represent a geographical area within which a resource can perform activities.
Given these definitions, WACS Service Areas should ideally be mapped to Work Zones in OFS rather than Buckets. This would more accurately reflect the geographical boundaries of crew operations.
To properly map to OFS Buckets, recommendation is to identify another field, such as the owning organization or another relevant attribute. A recommended approach is to introduce an OFS Lookup to determine the correct mapping. This would provide flexibility, allowing customers to configure bucket mappings as needed.
