Enabling motherboard network interfaces in EL 5.1

I recently took our development servers from Fedora 8 to EL 5.1. In the process, I've lost the usage of the onboard NICs--they show up in the Hardware Browser, but as unknown devices instead of network interfaces like the plug-in cards (which install and work fine.) Any hints where to go to enable them? Worked fine under Fedora...
