Email configuration from Oracle SOA 11g

All,

version: 11.1.1.4

I'm trying to configure email notification to be sent from BPEL PM using email activity. In the email activity, I mentioned the 'to' address, subject and body. From the em console, I configured the email using UMS. The following properties are configured

1. MailAccessProtocal - IMAP (also tried with POP3)

2. OutgoingMailServer - smtp.ariba.com

3. OutgoingMailServerPort - 25

4. OutgoingUsername

5. OutgoingPassword

After setting these properties, I restarted the server. But still email notification is not working as expected. What could be wrong? Pls suggest
