I know this topic has come up several times in the Forum, but I didn't find a definative answer to my specific situation.
I'm using the Logical Model function in Data Modeler V3.3.
I create an entity and then define several relationships which link other (parent) entities to the new entity (as the child)
Some of the primary keys of the parent entities contain an identical attribute, which generates multiple versions of that attribute (with numeric suffixes) in the new (child) entity. In the real world, there is only one piece of data that needs to be represented and the (generated) others will all contain duplicate values.
I use the Logical Model diagrams to review and verify my models with client Subject Matter Experts. These extra copies of the attribute are confusing to my clients and I'd like to eliminate them from the diagrams/data dictionaries that I generate from the tool.
I know this is possible in the relational model, and they can be suppressed from generating when migrating from logical to other stages (through folding of overlapped elements if they are part of the primary key of the child entity), however the process I follow involves client review at the logical model stage.
I haven't seen a forum discussion that shows how to eliminate them from the logical model or that definitively says that it's not possible.
Thank you,
