Currently, when a Work Order (WO) or Construction Work Order (CWO) has a large number of activities or resources attached, changing the status or performing date updates that cascade to the underlying activities frequently results in timeouts and failure. This poses a significant challenge for customers managing complex or high‑volume work orders.
At Essential Energy, we have addressed this limitation by implementing a Batch Update / Status Change option that processes these updates in the background. When selected, a batch job updates the individual activities first and, once completed, updates the parent work order, thereby eliminating timeout issues and improving performance and reliability.
We recommend that Oracle evaluate adopting a similar batch‑driven approach within the core product and consider partnering with Essential Energy on continuous improvement initiatives.
