editor in sqlplus for AIX

Hi,

OS: Aix 4

Db : 10 and above

we using sqlplus for dba operations.some times we misspelled.The editor is not working like windows.
If we type ed,it seems hang.Then close the putty and open new one.

SQL> ed
Wrote file afiedt.buf
*146*

any solutions.
