DRM 11.1.1.3 Performance benefit to making a version 'submitted'?

Hi All:

Just a quick question. Are there any performance/storage benefits in DRM 11.1.1.x to changing a version status to submitted? What I am aiming at here is ideally maintaining some prior year versions as required by law but keeping their resource use at a minimum.
