Doubt about Essbase Database

Hi All,

I am new to Oracle Hyperion EPM and I have recently installed EPM v 11.1.2.4 on a SPARC machine.

One of the pre-requisite for this installation was to have a Oracle Database installed. What I am trying to understand here is that, this database, which we install before EPM installation, is it the same which we call an Essbase database??

If no, then what exactly is meant if someone says "Essbase database"?
