Do Supporting Objects->Installation Scripts update an existing app when imported to another workspace using Remote Deployment

Skip Morehead5 days ago

We have our application packaged up in Supporting Objects and periodically refresh TEST from DEV. We have our Packages in a Packages script and Views/Triggers in a Views/Triggers script. When we do a fresh install it all imports and installs just fine.

To date we refresh the scripts before exporting the app but manually copy/paste the two scripts into separate files. When we import the update in the target workspace we do not tell it to process supporting objects but manually apply the two scripts.

We're in the process of setting up a production environment and want use remote deployment and, while we haven't tested this yet, are wondering if an install of an update will process any scripts we have in supporting objects and update those artifacts as well.

I've read the lifecycle management pdf, https://www.oracle.com/a/tech/docs/apex-lifecycle-management-v3.pdf, but that's a bit more than we want to do right now. We are assessing that approach but it will take a bit to set up and it's currently not in our dev stream.

Any thoughts/comments are appreciated.

Thanks,
