Do I have to renew Oracle license??

653744Oct 3 2008 — edited Oct 3 2008
Hi there,

I am currently using the Oracle Database Standard Edition 10g on my Linux Redhat OS.
This license is going to expire soon.
My question is, do I need to renew the license in order to "keep" the Oracle Database Software?
In other words, if I did not renew the license, can I stil use the Oracle DB Software legally?

I do understand that without the license renewal, I am unable to do patches, access the online support, future upgrades & etc.
I also heard that in order to "keep" the Oracle software, legally, even though I am not using it, I still have to pay for the license fee is it?
If I don't renew, besides can't access the benefits, I can't use the software legally is it??
(Please correct me if I am wrong)
Can you all help me to provide some official documents, websites or links that states those information?

I need help, advice, and guidance from all of you because I am still new to this Oracle license thingy.
I apologize for anything that is improper.

Looking forward for your kind reply.

Thanks in advance =)
