Do Hibernate/JDO/CMP obviate ER design?
843854Jun 24 2004 — edited Jun 27 2004It seems to me that by using ORM tools like Hibernate, one no longer needs to create ER diagram as is necessary for traditional RDBMS development; this is replaced by creating UML class diagrams for the domain model. Is this true? This feels a bit strange to me since in my previous experience, creating ER diagram has always been an essential step. I'm still not comfortable with the idea of having my database managed automatically/transparently by some tool.
